Join Tommy Wells and Mayor Adrian Fenty at a community meeting tonight, Monday, May 7th, at 7:30 pm at Hine Jr. High School (located between 7th and 8th Streets along Pennsylvania Ave, SE) to discuss plans to create a temporary home for the indoor merchants of the South Hall of Eastern Market to keep them open for business while we rebuild Eastern Market. Plans include building a temporary structure on the playground of the nearby Hine Jr. High School and creating additional space for the Flea Market vendors so that all businesses are kept whole. The plan has been supported by Tom Rall, manager of The Flea Market at Eastern Market, which has operated on that site on Sundays for 15 years. The meeting tonight will focus on getting the community involved in the planning process for this temporary structure and ensuring that the Capitol Hill community moves forward together to rebuild Eastern Market as quickly as possible. Please join us at 7:30 pm at Hine Jr. High School on Monday night. |
