MPD officers are aggressively pursuing all leads in two recent high profile attacks.

1. Two morning stabbing attacks in Capitol Hill SE.

- On Friday, March 30th, there was a morning stabbing attack on a male victim as he was walking to the Navy Yard. The suspect was viewed acting erratically, dancing in the street, and seemed disoriented. The suspect fled in the direction of 7th and E Streets, SE.

- On Wednesday, April 4th, there was a morning stabbing attack on a female victim as she was walking near 100 D St, SE. The suspect acted in a similar fashion to the March 30th attack and then fled on foot.

MPD believes the attacks are related. The victims describe the suspect as a black male in his late twenties, approximately 6 feet tall, usually wearing a red jacket. The suspect is also believed to be disoriented and has been witnessed acting erratically and speaking to himself. He should be considered very dangerous and residents are urged not to engage the suspect but to call 911 immediately.

MPD is conducting a major canvass of homeless and mental health centers in the area. They have also sent out community notices via public service announcements to the community and mental health providers and enlisted the aide of the Capitol Hill BID. MPD will continue to aggressively do community outreach and station officers in the area to stop these attacks and arrest the suspect.

MPD Detective Witkowski and Sergeant Hawkins are on the case and can be reached at 698-0549 with any information.
