Hi, I’m Ram Uppuluri. I am greatly honored to serve as Counsel to the Committee on Human Services. My wife, Jackie Krieger, and I live on Capitol Hill with our four-year-old son, Adam. I first met Tommy many years ago when I was working as an aide to Congressman Jim Cooper, of Tennessee, in the United States House of Representatives. I had started my career as a reporter for The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville, and was working on environmental issues for Congressman Cooper at the time. I later worked in the United States Senate for then-Sen. Al Gore, Jr., on energy and environmental issues, and then in the Clinton Administration at the United States Department of Energy. In recent years, I have returned to my roots in local politics and government – from 2003 to 2005, I was an attorney for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. In 2005, I returned to DC and was practicing law locally when Tommy invited me to join his team. I’m thrilled to be working for Tommy on the Committee on Human Services, where our job is to improve the delivery of basic human services to people whose very lives may depend on them. Please come by and visit our Committee offices on the first floor of the beautiful John A. Wilson Building. |
