The District of Columbia Weatherization, Rehabilitation, and Asset Preservation Program (DC WRAP) is sponsored by the DC Department of the Environment/Energy Office and Energy Programs Consortium and provides grants for direct services in the homes of eligible home owners to improve their energy efficiency and housing affordability. In order to determine your eligibility for this Program, please call 202 624-5867 at the DC WRAP office to request the DC WRAP Referral Form. Once eligibility is confirmed, they will arrange for an energy audit and install energy improvement measures in your home. DCWRAP could provide you with up to $2,300 in weatherization services for a variety of cost-effective energy efficiency improvements including lighting, insulation, furnace and air conditioning maintenance and repair and refrigerator and appliance replacement. Each home will receive a comprehensive energy audit at no cost to you to determine what energy efficient measures would likely benefit your home. If you are a homeowner and use your District home as your primary residence, they are asking for a few items to help them determine whether you are eligible. You must show: (1) proof that the home is owned and occupied by you; (2) the home is not in danger of receivership by the City for unpaid taxes or loans; and (3) your total family income falls within the range below for your family size: Household size Minimum - Maximum Annual Income 1 $33,100 - $42,000 2 $37,800 - $48,000 3 $42,550 - $54,000 4 $47,250 - $60,000 5 $51,050 - $64,800 6 $54,800 - $69,600 7 $58,600 - $74,000 8 $62,350 - $79,200 Your participation in the Program may also be a great introduction to other services like home rehabilitation and mortgage financing for eligible families. This demonstration program will run for 16 months, ending September 2009, and they will accept families on a first come first serve basis who are qualified so hurry to see if you can take advantage of these free energy efficiency services. THREE OTHER DCDOE/DCEO PROGRAMS TO EXPLORE: The HERS program has no income limits. Families can receive a free energy audit that generates a valuable audit report for the family to use to know what energy efficient improvements would benefit their home.
